The Township of Nipigon continues work to repair an ongoing watermain leak in the distribution system. One leak has been repaired; however, a second leak remains active. Public Works crews have completed multiple excavations and are continuing to locate the source, with support from external leak detection specialists.
Who Is Affected
Only the following locations are impacted by overnight shut-offs and potential daytime pressure issues:
- First Street (between Front Street & Brennen Drive)
- 69 & 70 Newton Street

Temporary Water Service Impacts
Overnight water shut-offs
January 6 – 9, 2026 - 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Possible daytime pressure interruptions
January 6 – 9, 2026 - 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Residents in affected areas are encouraged to plan ahead by storing water for essential use.
Community Support Available
The Nipigon Community Centre is available for:
- Drinking water
- Washrooms
- Showers

Boil Water Advisory – Still in Effect
Zone A and Zone B remain under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice.
This advisory applies to all properties in Zone A & B, even if you are not experiencing service interruptions.



Updates will be shared as soon as conditions allow the advisory to be lifted.
