Landfill Site Update: Resident Information (Non-Resident Rate Removed)

The Township’s Landfill Policy has been updated and the non-resident rate information has been removed from the public notice. Below is the key information for Nipigon residents/property users.

No tipping fee (residents/property users): Regular household garbage (properly bagged), including tires and metal.

Landfill Hours

Summer (Second Sunday in March):

• Mon & Fri: 2:00–7:00 PM

• Tue & Sat: 12:00–4:00 PM

• Wed/Thu/Sun: Closed

Winter (First Sunday in November):

• Mon & Fri: 12:00–5:00 PM

• Tue & Sat: 12:00–4:00 PM

• Wed/Thu/Sun: Closed

Stat Holiday Closures: Includes New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Canada Day, Family Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (see full list in the policy).

Landfill Access Cards (Important)

• A valid landfill access card must be shown at every visit.

• Cards are issued per residential property and must only be used for waste generated from that property.

• Sharing/duplicating cards is prohibited; misuse can result in suspension.

Reminders

• Dump only when an attendant is on site.

• Secure your load; bag loose items.

• Access is restricted to 15 minutes before closing; gates lock on the hour.

• No scavenging (trespass enforcement may apply).

Recycling notes: Cardboard cartons can be recycled at the Nipigon Recycling Depot; e-waste is accepted at the landfill in the designated area.
