The Township of Nipigon Fire Ban has been lifted, effective immediately, in alignment with the current direction from the Province of Ontario.
Residents and visitors may resume open-air burning, provided all applicable provincial and municipal requirements are followed.
What does this mean?
With the Fire Ban lifted:
- Campfires and recreational fires are permitted, subject to applicable regulations.
- Outdoor fire pits and fireplaces may be used in accordance with Township requirements.
- Previously issued Township fire permits are no longer suspended and may be used in accordance with the conditions of the permit.
- Burning of grass, leaves, brush, debris or other materials remains subject to applicable provincial and municipal regulations and any required permits.
Residents are reminded to always use caution when having an open-air fire and to ensure fires are properly extinguished before leaving them unattended.
Please continue to monitor conditions and take appropriate precautions when burning.
