Proclamation: Firefighter Appreciation Month

WHEREAS the Nipigon Fire Department is a volunteer fire service, made up of local residents who generously give their time and energy to safeguard the people, property, and natural environment of the Township of Nipigon; and

WHEREAS the service, sacrifice, and reliability of Nipigon’s volunteer firefighters are unmatched, as they respond to fires, medical emergencies, motor-vehicle collisions, hazardous incidents, wildland events, and severe-weather situations, often under dangerous and unpredictable conditions; and

WHEREAS our firefighters devote countless hours to training, fire prevention, inspections, public education, equipment upkeep, and on-call readiness, strengthening the safety and resilience of the community; and

WHEREAS effective emergency response is made possible through collaboration among firefighters, dispatch, mutual-aid partners, police, paramedics, public works, utilities, and neighboring communities; and

WHEREAS September is recognized as Firefighter Appreciation Month, offering a chance to celebrate and express gratitude for the skill, courage, and service of our firefighters and their families;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, on behalf of the Corporation of the Township of Nipigon, I, Mayor Suzanne Kukko, do hereby proclaim the month of September, 2025 as Firefighter Appreciation Month in the Township of Nipigon.
