Position Overview
The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) is currently seeking a District Tenant and Transitional Outreach Support Worker to join our Integrated Social Services team.
In this role, you’ll work directly with tenants and individuals accessing emergency hostels to assess needs, reduce barriers to housing, and connect people with the supports they need to thrive. This position plays a key role in supporting vulnerable populations and strengthening community connections across the district.
What You’ll Do

Assess the physical, social, psychological, and economic needs of tenants and hostel residents

Provide outreach, one-on-one support, and case management
-
Connect individuals to community agencies and advocate for access to services
-
Support individuals with mental health and addiction challenges
-
Coordinate community development activities and tenant council initiatives
-
Complete eligibility-related documentation for social assistance programs
-
Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and statistical data
Qualifications
Education & Experience (one required):
-
Degree in Psychology with 2 years of experience working with high-needs populations, or
-
Diploma or Degree in Social Work with 2 years of related experience, or
-
Diploma or Degree in Addictions Counselling with 2 years of related experience
Skills & Abilities:
-
Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills

Cultural sensitivity and strong knowledge of community resources
-
Ability to work in high-stress situations and rebound effectively
-
Experience working with individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
Assets:
-
Safe Food Handling Certificate
-
Life skills coaching experience
Conditions of Employment

Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle

Ability to travel throughout the District of Thunder Bay

Successful Police Records Check (Type 2)

Must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following communities:
Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Marathon, Manitouwadge, Geraldton, Longlac, or Nipigon
Hours & Compensation
-
35 hours per week
-
Hourly rate: $32.80 – $40.16 (Salary Group 10)
