About the Role
The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) is seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as Casual Custodians. This role is vital in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of TBDSSAB properties across the district.
Preference will be given to applicants who reside in one of the following communities:
- Schreiber
- Terrace Bay
- Marathon
- Manitouwadge
- Geraldton
- Longlac
- Nipigon
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain common areas, including washrooms, laundry rooms, stairwells, and parking lots.
- Prepare vacant apartments for new tenants (cleaning, painting, minor repairs).
- Conduct minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs.
- Support larger renovation projects and annual inspections.
- Maintain outdoor areas (garbage removal, lawn care, snow removal).
- Assist tenants with lockouts and troubleshoot minor conflicts.
- Ensure building systems (heating, water, lighting, safety equipment) are properly maintained.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required.
- Experience: 1–3 years of maintenance or custodial experience.
- Skills: Strong communication, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
- Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of a Type II Police Records Check.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle may be required.
- Flexibility to travel as needed.
